Welcome

Rother Valley Racing is my attempt at turning my favourite toy as a young un into a fully fledged hobby and hopefully onto a club and/or birthday party/events service. I will be posting my progress along with Scalextric track layouts I've designed and my general musings - hope you enjoy!

We're baaaaaack!!! - Pictures and video from our little event using a Suzuka layout!

Been a while, would say we've been busy, but we haven't really!! Expect more track updates from now on!  We have been busy however staging a couple of events.  So here's some pictures of last night's event in the Handsworth Inn...

It seems the racing gods were adamant this event wasn't going to go ahead... While testing the cars 10 days before, 2 microprocessors blew up on us - meaning we only had 4 cars that could race on the day.  Undeterred we sent the chips off to a Slot Forum member (GregK) to fix them, you never know, they might be fixed in time for the event!

4 days before the event, we decided to set up the software, SSDC, to experiment with the throttle settings in attempt to make the cars easier to control.  Unfortunately, the cable we use to connect the laptop to the track overheated and fried!

We were then thinking of cancelling altogether, but our minds were quickly changed by a couple of colleagues in the day job to proceed with the beeping tower!

So, It came to the big day and it went off well, except turnout was much lower than expected, and then to top it off we had ANOTHER chipped car fail on us

We soldiered on with three cars, and the event went well as a learning exercise in how we can turn this into a club/event thing!  The locals in the pub kept peering into the room and asked to have a go, and they were very impressed with it!

So, we go on to November, where we have a replica of Abu Dhabi to race on as our own support race for the final race of the Formula One season!
